DIPS Conference in Eindhoven
On 13th October 2017 our teachers at ISTwente primary attended a DIPS (Dutch International Primary Schools) Conference. The conference took place at the International School of Eindhoven, a spectacular school with multiple buildings on a secluded wooded campus, and started at 9:00 am. Everyone was excited to explore this year's theme of "Uncomfortable Learning" together with over 500 teachers, leaders and educators from all over the Netherlands who attended the conference as well.
After a hilarious keynote speech by polyglot Alex Rawling, owner of RawLangs, the teachers departed for their workshops. Everyone chose two different workshops: one in the morning and one in the afternoon. One of the workshops focused on "Having Hard Conversations", something every teacher and head of school can relate to. Another workshop, "Empowering Multilingual Learners in the Mainstream Classroom", focused on how EAL (English as an Additional Language) is implemented in an international school.
It was a very productive and fruitful day, and many ideas and techniques as well as useful tools were presented which our teachers are eager to put into practice!
