At ISTwente we focus on sciences. Our international curricula offer an excellent framework for engaging our students in enquiry and in research, whatever their age may be.
Of course, the type of research is always age-appropriate. Where our students at primary play, design and discover, our students at secondary gradually become confident in a lab environment and develop into skilled researchers.
Right from the beginning, our students learn how the sciences are integrated and relate. STEAM is our buzz word here. It is an American-based vision in which student’s learning is integrated as they explore the world around them, create innovative solutions to problems and communicate their results while learning Science, Technology, Engineering, Art and Maths. STEAM is more than just the individual subjects. It is the intended integration of core elements in our curricula, in which art is the inspiration to think deeply and to develop creative solutions.
This unique focus of our school coincides very well with the profile of the Twente region with its diversity of high-tech companies, the University of Twente and the Saxion University of Applied Sciences. They all provide a unique opportunity for ISTwente to support our students in developing their 21st century skills.
