Following instructions in literacy

During this unit, the students of the Penguins class explored the features of instructional texts and wrote their own instructions (e.g. following a recipe). Giving instructions is as important as following instructions. It should be done carefully and step by step.

The students explored different types of instructional text. This lesson was also linked to Citizenship where students had to try to find an answer to the question: How do rules and laws affect me? (e.g. what are the consequences of not following certain instructions).

In order to have a hands-on experience, and to link the lesson to science, the students made a magical potion, using soda and vinegar to create an awesome chemical reaction.
