On Monday 5 December all the students were ready and waiting at 08.00 for the arrival of Sinterklaas. Despite the icy-cold weather, there were many students waiting in the school grounds.
After a long wait, singing several traditional Sinterklaas songs, Sint finally arrived, not on his horse Americo, but in a police van accompanied by sirens!
Given the cold, Sint and his three “Pieten’ disappeared inside quickly.
In the hall, the podium had been beautifully decorated by parents and students.
Students, parents and grandparents managed to find a place in the hall where Sint was sitting on his special ‘Sint-worthy’ chair.
Students from our oldest group, the Wise Wolves, had prepared various entertainment acts, such as piano playing, acrobatics and comedy. At the end of the gathering, the whole school sang the school song.
Following this combined programme, Sint visited the different groups. Our music teacher supported the singing of Sinterklaas songs in the various groups with her guitar. “Sinterklaas kapoentje” and “Bonne bonne bonne” were the favourites.
At 12.30 Sinterklaas and his “Pieten’ departed. The whole school came outside to wave them goodbye.
