Annual Ireland Exchange
In 2007, Math teacher Mr. Noel O'domhnail laid the foundations for an annual international exchange with Gairmscoil Éinne; a secondary school based on Inis Mór. The largest of the three Aran islands, just off the western coast of Ireland in Galway Bay, is famous for its rocky promontories with prehistoric hill forts, and stunning views of the cliffs and the sea.
Students from ISTwente secondary have been visiting this island for many years now, during which they are welcomed into the homes of their fellow Irish students' host families. During their stay they hike up the rocky cliffs of Dún Aonghasa and Dún Dúchathair, but are also treated to interesting workshops such as metal and wood working.
The students of Gairmscoil Éinne are also invited to stay with our host families in The Netherlands, either the first week or second week of the exchange. Here the students of both schools enjoy a full schedule of fun activities as well! In school year 2016/2017, for example, they visited the German city of Münster, went ice skating and celebrated the Dutch national holiday of Sinterklaas.
